Door #8 opened on December 19th at Milltown Arms Tavern in Cabbagetown. All of our doors are part of their community and this door is unique because it represents just how invested in this public art project you are, Atlanta. This door is one result of our successful Brick Campaign, a fundraiser where we engraved your names and messages on tiny bricks for all to see. We are honored, and grateful, and can’t thank you enough for your contribution to Tiny Doors ATL. Oh! And we wired a tiny light over the door, so you can even visit at night!
Over two hundred families, businesses, and individuals joined our Brick Campaign and trusted us with names, sweet messages, dates, and inside jokes to engrave on tiny bricks around Door #8. While we have a solid process for creating a door, we’ve never attempted an engraved brick facade! Karen and Sarah, the co-founders of Tiny Doors ATL, along with two incredible volunteers, Rachel and Pascal, put over 60 hours of work into the creation Door #8.
Our a vision for the wall included a tiny light above the door, but weren’t exactly sure of how to make it happen. No problem! This project gives us the opportunity to consult with experts from other fields and we love growing our connections with small, independent businesses in Atlanta. The talented folks over at Ack Electronics helped us make our lighting vision a reality and we are so pleased with the results.
